Bronxville students participate in All-County music programs

“Thirty Bronxville School students were named to All-County music ensembles by the Westchester County School Music Association (WCSMA) for its 2010 Elementary and Intermediate Festival concerts on March 20 and 21 at SUNY Purchase. The Elementary Festival included students in grades four through six.

“Named to the Elementary Orchestra were fifth-grade violists Eliana Briskin, Ali Gokhan, and Raquel Guzman, and sixth graders Henry Anderson (cello), Emma Donahue (viola), Christopher Magnani (cello), and Hilary Rizzo (violin).

“Named to the Elementary Band were fifth grader Michael Landy (oboe) and sixth graders Thomas Fredericks (clarinet), Hiroshi Kawakatsu (flute), Ariana Moustakas (flute), and Saige Sunier (French horn).

“Named to the Elementary Chorus were sixth graders Kathleen Conaton (soprano), Ariana Moustakas (alto), Caroline Schetlick (alto), and Winston Weiler (soprano).

The Intermediate Festival included students in grades seven through nine.

“Named to the Intermediate Orchestra were eighth grader Christopher Landy (French horn) and ninth graders Mari Kawakatsu (violin) and Mark Manley (viola).

“Named to the Intermediate Band were seventh graders Martin Jensen (French horn) and Silas White (baritone), and eighth grader Emma Berry (clarinet).

“Named to the Intermediate Chorus were seventh graders Lilia Briskin (alto), Naoko Fukuzawa (soprano), Kylie Regan (soprano), Leila Sunier (soprano), and Morgan Taylor (alto); eighth graders Rebecca Blanco (alto) and Spencer Borwick (baritone); and ninth grader Josh Geiling (baritone).

“The instrumentalists were chosen by WCSMA on the basis of auditions at last spring’s NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) Solo Festival, where they were required to perform a solo piece, sight-read, and play scales. The singers were chosen by their school choral director on the basis of skills and interest.”
