Bronx teen, struck by train, listed as critical
A 17-year-old Bronx woman remains hospitalized at Jacobi Medical Center after she was struck by a northbound Metro-North train on Sunday.
Christin Weimar was listed yesterday in critical condition at the hospital. A hospital spokeswoman said she remains in critical when we made contact about 3:15 p.m. today.
According to Margorie Anders, a Metro-North spokeswoman, Weimar and an unidentified male companion were walking on the tracks across the stone bridge over the Bronx River just south of the Bronxville train station about 1 p.m. Sunday when they heard a train approaching.
“There is no clearance on either side of the tracks. They tried to outrun the train. They were running north, the train was going north,” Anders said in an e-mail.
“The boy made it, the girl did not. She crouched down apparently trying to get out of the way. She was hit by the third or fourth car, according to the post-accident forensic investigation. The location is on a curve and the view is obscured. The engineer did not see them and was unaware of the strike. He continued he run to North White Plains,” she wrote.
The incident remains under investigation.

Why would they be walking on the train tracks not very smart.
“The engineer did not see them and was unaware of the strike. He continued the run to North White Plains”
– I GUESS THAT THE TRAIN IS OK, THEN.
First of all, you are referring to my cousin. If you have nothing good to say, you shouldn’t say anything at all. You have the audacity to say, wasn’t a smart move/guess the train is okay… Are you kidding me? It just goes to show the kind of people you are, making arrogant and ignorant comments as such. I mean, who sits around reading a tragic story and makes stupid comments like that? I hope something tragic never happens to anyone in your family, because obviously you don’t know how to empathize and are not human. Try getting a life and not sitting around reading tragic stories and making stupid comments or try prayer…
Okay, Daielle,
this WAS a stupid idea! Why would they walk on the tracks??? And try to outrun them? and this guy must really care about your cousin to leave her there to get hit while he outruns it.
Do you know anything about those tracks and how many people actually do cross them? AND, who ever said, they were trying to outrun the train? AND, who said he left her there?? You don’t know who he was to her…So please don’t make assumptions. Like I said, “if your idea of living, is sitting reading tragic stories and making comments like that; instead of sending condolences to the family, you have a problem… Anyway, enough said… I don’t have the time nor the energy to try and answer your stupid questions. Do me a favor and don’t reply, I have no need to read your personal feelings on a situation that we are trying to focus on. This is not about you, it’s about my cousin and her family.
I dont wish no harm on anyone especially this girl.. Are people suppose to cross these train tracks to get to certain places? If so, ITS THE CITIES FAULT and they should stop it from letting it happen to someone else. however, if crossing/walking on the train tracks are not allowed then your telling me that these teens did not have common sense that it is dangerous. of course, she didnt deserve it but if u know putting ur hand in fire you will get burned, would u put ur hand in the fire??? its not about not having empathy its about prevention! What if she would have died? ALL BECAUSE OF FOOLISH CHOICES! instead of curdling her you should be educating her on the critical awareness that we only have one life and we have to live it wisely. Giving thanks to god that she can live another day! and just live from it. you may not like my comments because they are not “comforting” but its what can save lives! I hope your family will only get stronger and value life a bit more. this girl is in my prayers!!
KrashKowalski so help me God I hope you rot in hell for the vicious things you said about such a beautiful young girl. Christin is near && dear to my heart && you are not so much as a fraction of the person she is. Christin had an accident it is as plane and simple as that. With all the things that are going through my head that i would love to unleash upon you i will bite my tongue. Because of the mistake a child made you think that gives you the right to say such terrible things about her?! who are you? && how dare you. A little girl is sitting in a hospital bed right now && you’re sitting there making jokes. You truly make me sick and may God have mercy on you. But the thing about it is, no matter the viscous things you have to say about her, Christin would NEVER say such things about you && would only wish that God would forgive you. Christin is a beautiful girl inside and out && does not deserved to be spoken about so horrifically, instead of being in your hurtful blogs on a public news website she should be in your prayers.
The progress you have made Christin is somewhat of a miracle. Keep up the great work. It’s quite obvious that the love around you, and the prayers, have been helping immensely. Let krashkowalski’s comments remind you that there will always be sick, demented people in this world. But knowing you and your loving, crazy humor, you’re laughing at the idiots comments. Keep up the great work, and your potassium. Lol.
