Oktoberfest at Tap House Tonight through Saturday: German Beer, Food and Music • 09.30.10
The Tap House in Tuckahoe is doing an Oktoberfest menu this weekend.
Says managing partner Chris O’Brien:
We’ll be replacing all of our tap beer with German style Beers (Most of them from Germany), and Chef Kevin Bertrand is fine tuning his pretzel making skills, amongst other traditional and not so traditional German dishes. Our idea was not to change the menu but simply add a German style supplemental menu. We’ll be celebrating all week long, and will have some live German music on Thursday night. I’ve attatched a copy of our menu with the beers we’ll be serving.
The menu is after the jump. (more…)

Bronxville PD issue flood warning • 09.30.10
For those not on the Bronxville Police Department’s emergency alert:
The National Weather Service has issued a wind and flood advisory for Westchester County from 11 a.m. Thursday through 6 a.m. Friday. The potential exists for winds in excess of 40 mph and rainfall amounts greater than six inches in some locations.
The police department and public works department is prepared to respond in the event of flooding and wind damage within the village.
Now is the time to secure items in your yard that can blow away and cause damage or injury to pedestrians. In the event of downed wires or fallen trees, it is important that you do not move or come into contact with any of the debris until it has been cleared by police/fire/DPW/Con Ed officials. Do not drive into locations that are flooded, as swift rising flood waters can quickly disable your vehicle and leave you in ned of a rescue.
If you live in a flood-prone area, move valuable personal items from the basement or lower level of your home to a safer location. In the event of a power failure, refrain from opening your refrigerator to safeguard against food loss and if using a generator, be sure tonot have it contained in the garage of your home to prevent deadly exhaust from entering your home.
We will closely monitor the situation throughout the day on Thursday and into Friday and will issue further alerts if warranted.
