Former Bronxville housekeeper busted on identity theft charges

Posted by: Will David - Posted in Bronxville, Police & Fire on Oct 07, 2010

A 38-year-old Queens housekeeper who allegedly stole credit card information from her Bronxville employer and then ran up $32,000 in charges through cash advances and purchases was tracked down after two years by a village detective, police said Thursday.

During Bronxville Detective Richard Anderson’s investigation of Gloria Tablang-Nimo of 90-43 56th Ave. in Elmhurst, she assumed four different aliases and five different addresses, Chief Christopher Satriale said.

Armed with an arrest warrant and with the help of the Westchester County District Attorney’s Intelligence Center, Anderson caught up with Tablang-Nimo Wednesday in Nassau County, Satriale said.

“Detective Richard Anderson’s tireless and relentless effort coupled with the dedicated assistance of the  District Attorney’s Office Westchester Intelligence Center and local US Postal Inspectors led to the successful conclusion of this case,”  Satriale said.”Identity theft is increasing at an alarming rate and is a difficult crime to solve. The collaborative effort resulting in the arrest is a great example of the level of cooperation that we must all commit to when combating these types of crimes.”

The case started Dec. 3, 2008 when a 42-year-old Bronxville woman reported to village police that she had been a victim of identity theft.
Anderson began investigating the case but in early 2009, when Tablang-Nimo learned she was under suspicion, she disappeared, the chief said.

Bronxville police located and interviewed her in December 2009, but did not have sufficient evidence to arrest her and she went on the lam again, Satriale said.

During the probe, he said, Anderson learned that Tablang-Nimo had had her employers credit card bills sent to a UPS post office box, then began collecting the bills and used the cards to make the charges. By Feb, 2, Anderson had enough evidence to obtain an arrest warrant, but he couldn’t execute it until Wednesday when he caught up with his suspect.

During the probe Anderson also found two other victims in New Jersey and the Bronx and shared those cases with those authorities, the chief said.

Tablang-Nimo is charged with third-degree grand larceny, second-degree forgery and first-degree identity theft, all felonies. She was arraigned in Bronxville village court Wednesday and remanded to the county jail.

Good work ! Quite exhaustive I’d add. Let’s hope if/when this matter goes to trial she’s not only found guilty, she should have to make all the charge card companies whole again AND spend quite a bit of time behind bars. Stealing, whether it be identity or money, in my opinion, is a horrendous crime. People work hard for what they have and to have someone steal it is like being raped.

She also stole money from her co-worker and also used the credit card of the poor old lady. I believe she had many victims and until now she’s at large. Somebody said, she usually go in the pilipino restaurant in woodside roosebelt during weekend. mostly friday night at payag restaurant and or in the nearby pilipino restaurant. I believe she’s still working as live in housekeeper that’s why the authority has hard time to get her. She is using the alias karesten, rhaine, karen nimo or she might be using a new name again. I hope she get caught early before she victimized many people.
