Friends of Lauren Spierer and a local store are holding a fundraiser Saturday to raise money for a charity helping to continue the search for the college student who went missing six weeks ago.
LF Scarsdale, a women’s clothing boutique, will hold a “Headbands for Hope” event to raise awareness and money to continue the search for Spierer, an Edgemont resident and Indiana University student who was reported missing near the college in June. Spierer worked at the store while in high school.
Shoppers can purchase all of the store’s items, including headbands, one of Spierer’s favorite fashion accessories. Taylor Valentine, a longtime friend of Spierer’s who also attends Indiana University, said the store will make a donation to the school’s Helene G. Simon Hillel Center, which is aiding the search.
“We are definitely staying very positive,” said Valentine, 19, who works at the boutique. “We just want to do anything we can to bring Lauren home.”
Spierer, 20, vanished on June 3 after a night out with friends. Communities in Indiana and Greenburgh rallied to support the search, though efforts so far have not been successful.
