SCARSDALE
Police are investigating two house burglaries in which large amounts of jewelry was stolen, authorities said.
One burglary happened Friday on Wheelock Road and the second happened Saturday on Eton Road. In each burglary, a glass door in the rear of the home was broken to gain entry.
Scarsdale Detective Lt. Thomas J. Altizio said detectives are looking into whether the same person committed both burglaries.
The Wheelock Road couple returned home about 12:30 a.m. Saturday to discover the break-in. Cabinets in the dining room had been opened and the master bedroom suite ransacked. The family told police a large amount of jewelry was missing including a $5,000 gold men’s watch.
The Eton Road couple returned home to find the master bedroom and bathroom trashed and jewelry missing. The family told police the burglary happened while they were out Saturday night.
Neither family has determined the total value of the stolen jewelry, police said.
