Good morning field hockey fans: Debbie Schechter here reporting live from Cicero North Syracuse High School as we are about 15 minutes out from the start of the Class A state finals between Section 11’s Sachem East and Mamaroneck.
To set the scene, both teams are now warming up and as we wait, here is the scenario; if Sachem East wins, this will be there first state field hockey title in school history. If Mamaroneck wins, it will be the school’s first title since 2004.
Update 1: For the first six minutes of the first half the game, possession has gone Mamaroneck’s way as the Tigers have been able to keep play on their offensive side. Their attack has been doing well so far but the Tigers haven’t found the back of the net yet.

Update 3: Sachem East’s Kristen Bagley was injured on the play in Tiger territory and good to see her walking off the field gingerly with the assistance of the Sachem East coaching staff. Play resumes. It looks like an ankle injury for Bagley.

We have reached the end of regulation. Scoreless through 60 minutes and now we are heading to 10 minute overtime sudden victory periods of seven on seven action.
Update 25: Five minutes of intermission is over, we are beginning the first 10 minute overtime of 7 on 7 play. It is sudden victory play.

Play ends in the first overtime, 0-0 is the score through 70 minutes of play, the Tigers will have one more opportunity to score as a second 10 minute overtime. If no one scores through 80 minutes of play, then it’s on to penalty strokes to decide the Class A state championship.
