This came in recently from the Bronxville Junior League:
The Junior League of Bronxville (JLB), as a member of the New York State Public Affairs Committee of the Junior League (NYSPAC), has joined the Correctional Association of New York to urge the enactment of the Domestic Violence Survivors Justice Act (A7874-A/S5436). More than 100 domestic violence organizations and other groups across the state have signed on to support the Act.
Each year, the Junior League of Bronxville, as a NYSPAC member league, participates in an advocacy conference in Albany. The conference includes a day of professional development and media training, followed by a full-day of legislative meetings with members of the NYS Assembly and NYS Congress.
This year, NYSPAC and the Correctional Association of New York will hold a press conference to announce their support of the DVSJA Act on Tuesday, April 17 at 11:00 am in the Legislative Office Building LCA Room 102 in Albany. The press conference will be attended by formerly incarcerated domestic violence survivors and Senate bill sponsor Senator Ruth Hassell-Thompson. Following the press conference, members of NYSPAC—which represents over 8,000 women from Junior Leagues across the state—will meet with legislators to discuss the bill and encourage support.
