EASTCHESTER—Eight Eastchester residents in the north end of the town woke up this morning to find that their cars were broken into, town police said today.
All of the cars had been left unlocked and were looted of money, four GPS systems and a camera, Eastchester Police Chief Timothy Bonci said.
Police believe there could be other cars that were broken into but the owners have not yet discovered the thefts.
Chief Bonci said residents should not leave their vehicles unlocked. He believes that the thief or group walks around the neighborhood checking for unlocked doors.
“Not one car was damaged,” said Chief Bonci.
He said the thieves apparently keep walking if the doors are locked.
The thefts happened on Scarsdale Avenue, Lyons Road, Bronson Avenue and Bradley Road.
