Gilda’s Club Westchester raised $50,000 to support its programs for people dealing with cancer during its third annual Mah Jongg tournament on May 23.
More than 200 players attended the event, which has raised $150,000 over three years.
Scarsdale residents Wendy Kleinman and Jodi Shapiro organize the event and dedicate it to the memory of their mothers, Sandi Schneider and Joan Blieberg, both of whom loved Mah Jongg and died of cancer.
Gilda’s Club Westchester, based in White Plains, provides a support community for men, women, children, friends and families whose lives have been touched by cancer. The free services include support groups, networking, lectures and social events outside a hospital setting.
