Eastchester will once again be holding its townwide yard sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Lake Isle Country Club.
Coordinator Sheila Marcotte said almost 50 vendors have already signed up, up from 40 last year, and more contracts are coming in.
“The economy is ripe to do something like this and everyone loves a bargain,” she said.
Vendors pay $45 for a spot the size of two parking spaces in the parking lot at Lake Isle. The cost for renting a spot includes a $5 rebate if you clear out your location at the end of the day.
Most are local residents selling excess household stuff.
“The bulk of the vendors are literally taking stuff out of their houses, their attics and garages and putting it up for sale,” Marcotte said. “It’s something for everybody. There’s clothing. There’s jewelry. There’s household items. There’s bric-a-brac. Kids love it. You can go in and pick up a toy for $1 or $2.”
All of the money goes to the beautification committees of Eastchester and Tuckahoe, which last year each received $1,000 from the event.
“This was a good way to raise funds for the committees,” Marcotte said. “It’s really taken off.”
Food vendors, who pay $75 for a slot, will be selling hot dogs, hamburgers and coffee.

The event will be cancelled in case of rain.
