Village of Bronxville residents will vote Oct. 2 on a $4.5 million bond to fund school building projects, including science lab upgrades, an auditorium renovation and other improvements.
The total projected cost is up to $10 million and will also be funded by $3 million from the Bronxville School Foundation, PTA and private citizens’ contributions. Another $2.5 million is coming from a reserve in the district’s construction fund. The district also refinanced existing debt to save a total of $420,770, or about $50,000 a year.
The improvements were included when the Bronxville Board of Education adopted a five-year capital plan in January 2011.
If the referendum passes, the Board of Education expects the project to go out for bids in the late spring of 2013.
Residents can view the capital plan, including a virtual tour of the proposed auditorium renovations, online.
Voters can come to the polls Oct. 2 between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. in the elementary school multi-purpose room, 177 Pondfield Road.
