Tuckahoe High School seniors Robert Liebowitz and Min-Kyu Shin have been named Commended Students in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program, joining about 34,000 students in the nation who received the honor.
A letter of commendation from the school and the National Merit Scholarship Corp., which conducts the program, was presented by the Principal Bart Linehan. Commended Students placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2013 competition by taking the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
“Both Robert Liebowitz and Min-Kyu Shin represent some of the best and brightest minds in the country as demonstrated by their outstanding performance in this highly competitive program,” Linehan said in a statement.
