Andrew Ling, a senior at Eastchester High School, has been named a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist.
This year at school, he is taking six advanced placement courses: calculcus BC, English literature and composition, physics, psychology, Spanish and U.S. government and politics.
Ling also participates in activities. He tutors other students in Spanish, science and math and participates in the Human Rights Club, Academic Challenge Team and the Spanish Club. He is on the winter and spring track teams, plays violin in the school orchestra and has volunteered for the past three years at Lawrence Hospital.
He will graduate in June with a New York State Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors and will soon be inducted into Eastchester High’s chapter of the National Honor Society.
Ling intends to major in math or a math- or science-related field in college next year.
