The Eastchester Town Board unanimously approved a $34.1 million budget for 2013 on Tuesday night after hearing from the public in a meeting that drew about a dozen residents. The budget stays within the 2 percent statewide cap on tax-levy increases but at the cost of three to five full-time jobs.

Taxes will go up by $14 per $1,000 of assessed value, meaning that the tax bill will be on average $135.96 higher for homeowners in the town of Eastchester outside the villages of Bronxville and Tuckahoe. In Bronxville, taxes on average will rise $1.89 a year. In Tuckahoe, taxes will go up 67 cents on average. Village property owners pay the bulk of their municipal property taxes to the village governments.
