Seventh-grade English students at the Bronxville School are reading Charles Dickens “A Christmas Carol” on Kindle electronic readers this month. The devices are in the hands of students as a result of a $35,000 grant from the Bronxville School Foundation to provide 90 electronic readers for grades 5 to 12. Other classes using the Kindles are 10th grade French, where teacher Toby Gillen has students reading “The Little Prince” in French.

Kathy Marron, who teaches seventh grade English, said the children can look up difficult words easily by highlighting the word. “This will go a long way in enhancing their vocabularies,” she said.
