The newest members of the Junior League of Central Westchester partnered this fall on three projects with the Samaritan House Women’s Shelter, which provides temporary and emergency housing for up to 19 homeless women. Samaritan House is part of the Grace Church Community Center.
- The members redecorated the living room by adding wall art, curtains, rugs and a television. Wallauer’s Paint and Design Center in Scarsdale donated paint.
- They collected new home necessities from local businesses and fellow members to create kits for the homeless women as they moved into permanent housing. The kits contained linens, dishes, cutlery, cleaning products, toiletries and similar items.
- The new members hosted a brunch in December to present the renovated living room and moving-in kits to the Samaritan House staff and residents.
The Junior League of Central Westchester, based at Wayside Cottage in Scarsdale, has members from Eastchester, Greenburgh, Scarsdale and White Plains.
