The Scarsdale Public Library’s third annual spelling bee is coming up at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 1 at the Scarsdale High School auditorium. The event, which includes trivia games and prizes for the audience, is an important fundraiser for the Friends of the Scarsdale Library. Ed Coleman, the radio voice of the New York Mets, is the emcee. There are 20 participating teams, including five teams of teenagers, the most ever. Last year’s champs, Lucas Meyer and Esther Sloan of Team Hip to Bee Square, will also compete. The Friends of the Scarsdale Library Web page has a list of all participants. Admission to the spelling bee is $5, and refreshments will be available for purchase. Cash and checks will be accepted for the raffles and silent auction bids.
