This November will mark 10 years since Anthony S. Colavita won his first election for supervisor in Eastchester, and he’s already built a war chest of $50,000 as he prepares to run for his sixth, two-year term. More than 275 friends and supporters of Colavita gathered at Lake Isle Country Club on May 2 for his annual “Macaroni Night” fundraiser, the 17th he’s hosted since he started in politics. “There were no speeches, no proclamations,” Colavita said. “This event is more like a big family reunion than a fundraiser.”
Colavita is planning two other major fundraisers before the fall election, including a “steak and cigar night” in June and another event in September or early October. “I’ve been very aggresive in fundraising, and I’m keeping the committee we have in place strong,” he said, adding that he expects to raise $75,000 to $80,000 by the fall.
Colavita ran unopposed in 2011. The post of supervisor pays an annual salary of $98,093.
