Journalist Cheryl Strauss Einhorn will speak at the Scarsdale Public Library at 7:30 p.m. May 23 in a lecture on the World Bank. Einhorn, an award-winning veteran of print, radio and TV journalism who is also an adjunct professor at Columbia Business School, will dive into the question of whether billionaires and multinational corporations need help from the World Bank. She will also explore investments by the International Finance Corp., the World Bank’s investment arm, that go beyond its scope of helping people escape poverty and into funding hotels, shopping malls and mines. Einhorn wrote on this topic in Foreign Policy Magazine earlier this year. The event is a partnership between the library and the Scarsdale Adult School, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary. Doors will open at 7 p.m. Students from the Scarsdale Adult School Joy of Singing class will perform at 7:15 p.m. A $10 donation to the Scarsdale Adult School is suggested.
