On a cold, wet and windy day, Eastchester lost their battle against Southside, 1-0 during the Class A girls state semi-final game at SUNY Cortland.

Styling for the interview11.12.09

Brothers Piero and Luigi Pirri, who own an exclusive salon in Eastchester, gave two women their wish. At right, (Photo courtesy of Pirri Hair Group) Pricilla Santiago of Ossining and Susan Schroer of Greenburgh were the lucky women chosen for the makeover.

Cuts and Jobs 11-04-09

Piero and Luigi Pirro, owners of Pirri Hair Group of Eastchester, worked with Santiago as they add highlights, prior to a final cut. The salon volunteered its services for free to the women, who are both unemployed and feel they can get a better chance at employment if they look better. Holiday Food Drive11.11.09

Children pack decorated bags with Thanksgiving meals during the Families Feeding Families-Thanksgiving Food Sorting, a holiday food drive organized by Scarsdale Women’s Philanthropy group of the UJA Federation of New York/Westchester.

The group of volunteers packed up several hundred bags of holiday meals in White Plains, that would be distributed to the needy.

A local hero, in her eyes10.13.09

Hero 10-13-09I had the pleasure today of meeting Agnes Aliberto, 80, of Tuckahoe and photographing her with her home care nurse Mary Anne Rittenhouse. Aliberto has nominated Rittenhouse as a local hero, for her sympathy and help when she was recovering from colon cancer. Rittenhouse provided nursing care, as part of the Lawrence Home Care of Westchester visiting nurse service, for over seven months. Aliberto, a survivor, has been in remission for almost one year.
